  I can't believe it's been 16 years that I've been enjoying the food and the people at La Lanterna. You won't get any complaints from me about the food or... read more the service. It's always nice to be greeted with "thanks for returning". I'm always there for lunch during my 2 week stay in Assisi (part of an international music festival). I've pretty much tried the menu. Sorry, haven't found anything I wouldn't recommend above anything on the menu. It's all tasty and beautifully presented. If I did have to make a specific recommendation it would be to sit outside if possible. I've eaten inside and I have no complaints - I just find the little patio special.

  Our family consisted of 4 people. 2 ordered pizzas, 2 ordered Caesar salads. The restaurant was not busy and there were plenty of empty tables.

The 2 that ordered... read more their pizzas got theirs, but the salads didn't arrive. The 2 eventually started their pizzas, uncomfortable not to wait until the whole table was served.

After about 20 minutes, we asked a waiter where the 2 salads were and he just shrugged. After another 10 minutes the Caesar salads arrived. Made with iceberg lettuce and pieces of stale bread that hadn't even been toasted and barely any dressing.

To add insult to injury, the waitress arrived to clear the plates before 1 person still eating the salad had finished. She literally reached across her plate to grab another. Such a lack of service.

Very disappointing.

Don’t judge a book by it’s cover is said! We will return without doubts!

  From the outside the restaurant looks warm and inviting however don’t be deceived the staff are rude arrogant and unwelcoming!
The food was average made worse by the fact we... read more waited an hour for a pizza and not even an apology! I would like to say this was because it was busy however very few tables were taken we should have guessed that there was something wrong with this restaurant!
Please don’t be fooled by the look it really is not a pleasant experience.
